What is TARVT?
TARVT is the state association for Registered Veterinary Technicians, and all veterninary hospital personnal.
What is TVMA?
TVMA is the state association for veterinarians.
What is TVMA in relation to the Texas Registered Veterinary Technicians?
The Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) administers registry of the registered veterinary technicians on behalf of the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. TVMA's responsibilities for the RVT program includes collection and accounting for annual dues, maintaining the registry database, administering the state and VTNE examinations, auditing to assure compliance with continuing education requirements, and providing due process to registered veterinary technicians through the TVMA technician oversight committee. TVMA also provides RVTs veterinary publications - "Texas Veterinarian" and "FYI Newsletters".
WHAT is TARVT in relation to the Texas Registered Veterinary Technicians?
TARVT is the Texas membership of registered veterinary technicians. TARVT's goal is to promote RVTs and improve their status within the veterinary profession and beyond. TARVT's responsibilities include promoting the continued education of RVTs: sponsoring, encouraging and promoting liaison with other individual, association, and groups engaged in similar or related fields of activity; promoting the intersts of the association; promoting humane medical care of all animal; and promoting public awareness. TARVT also provides RVTs a newsletter - "Technically Speaking" - that includes classifieds, CE opportunities, and updates in the profession.
What is NAVTA?
The North American Veterinary Technician Association.
What is AVMA?
The American Veterinary Medical Association.
What is CE?
The shorthand version of "continuing education".
Why is it important to acquire CE?
Because in the ever changing ways of the world, technology and science are changing daily. New and improved way to treat illnesses are on the horizon and keeping informed of changes and new thoughts and ideas in veterinary medicine will help you stand out from the rest. How does one obtain CE?
Through local and state VMA's, technical magazines, the internet, in hospitals, clinics and conferences.
How many credits are required for current RVT status in the state of Texas?
5 credit hours per year.
How many CE credits are needed to be an active member of TARVT?
5 credit hours per year.
What is the fee for being a member of TARVT?
Active member $30.00 Assoc. Member $15.00 Student Member $10.00 and Newly Grads receive a free complimentary 1 year.
